Avoid Common Wedding Nightmares

Uros Krstic

Planning your wedding is going to take months of time and cost thousands of dollars. There's a lot that can go wrong, too, especially when you're trying to make so many things happen. The Better Business Bureau has compiled a list of a few steps that you can take to help protect yourself against any last-minute disasters. According to the Bureau, more than 300 complaints were filed against wedding service providers last year, a figure that doesn't include DJs, transportation services, or reception halls. Always be diligent about uncovering hidden fees. Many catering companies will charge extra for trivial things like cutting the cake or corking liquor not purchased directly from them. Make sure to ask about any potential charges beyond the written cost per person. Inquire specifically about things like cake cutting and champagne toasts as applicable. Don't rely on brochures when choosing your transportation. You are going to want to make sure the company actually owns the vehicle you want to use. Find out what their cancellation policy is, as well as what fees are like if you need the limo longer than you first thought. It may seem callous, but get the answers any questions you might be anxious about. If you aren't satisfied with a vendor's answer, it may be time to walk away
