Creepy & Delicious Halloween Recipes

Milena Kukurekovic

It's October, so we'll be celebrating Halloween at the end of the month. So what is any better time there to share some of our favorite Halloween food recipes other than now, right? So we put together some of our crowd-pleasers you can try at your next party!

Here's the first recipe we thought you'd fancy knowing.

Crescent Mummy Dogs

  • Prep Time: 30 minutes
  • Total Time: 50 minutes

Below is the list of items you need to prepare the crescent mummy dogs.

Ingredients:

  • One can of (8 oz.) Pillsbury® refrigerated crescent dinner rolls (8 counts)
  • 2 1/2 slices of American cheese slices (2.5 oz.)
  • Ten large cooked hot dogs. You can spread mustard, ketchup, or both on your hot dogs (if you prefer condiments on your buns)

Directions:

Step one: Preheat the oven to 375 °F (About 190C).

Step two: Unroll the dinner roll dough. Separate at perforations. This should create four rectangles; press perforations to seal.

Step three: Cut each rectangle lengthwise into ten pieces with a knife or kitchen scissors. You will have a total of 40 pieces of dough. Keep them aside.

Step four: Slice the cheese into quarters (1/2 slice of cheese, cut in half).

Step five: Now, take the prepared hot dogs. Then, wrap four pieces of dough around each hot dog and 1/4 slice of cheese to look like "bandages," stretching the dough slightly to cover the hot dog completely. About 1/2 inch from one end of each hot dog, separate "bandages" so the hot dog shows through for the "face."

Step six: On an ungreased large cookie sheet, place the wrapped hot dogs (cheese side down); spray dough lightly with nonstick cooking spray.

Step seven: Bake the wrapped hot dogs for 13 to 17 minutes, or until the dough is light golden brown and the hot dogs are hot. Take the baked hot dogs and draw features on the "face" with mustard, ketchup, or just one condiment.

And enjoy! These mummies are sure not to give you a scare but satisfy your hunger.

These yummy goodness come together in less than an hour. The quantities of ingredients we have used will let you serve ten guests. Do you want to know about the preparation time and total time you will spend making these?

Stuffed Peppers

Our second recipe is for all the smarties who fancy their treats a little spicy. These stuffed peppers are just suitable for the occasion, with their resemblance to jack-o'-lantern.

Ingredients to make the stuffed peppers:

  • Pumpkin pepper (You can also use any other orange or yellow colored peppers)
  • Vegetables of your choice
  • Minced Meat
  • Cheese
  • Rice

Directions:

Step one: Cut the top of the pepper and keep that aside. Should you remove the stalk from the pepper? No, the stalk should be there.

Step two: Remove the seeds, leaving only the outing of the pepper.

Step three: Carve the Halloween faces on the pepper from the outside. And set the carved pepper aside.

Step four: Preheat the oven to 200C.

Step five: Into a pan, add oil and heat it. Then add the minced garlic and thinly chopped onions to the pan. Sauté until the onions become translucent.

Step six: Add the minced meat and let it cook.

Step seven: Add in the vegetables of your choice and let them cook well. (We used mushrooms, tomatoes, and carrots). Now's the time to throw in some sun-dried tomatoes if you have them. Sauté all the elements in the pan for about 2 to 3 minutes.

Step eight: Add uncooked rice to the pan and let it fry for about five minutes. Stir in regular intervals so that the rice doesn't get burned.

Step nine: Add the tomato purée, salt, pepper, paprika, and other spices to the pan and give it a good mix. Let it cook for one to two minutes.

Step ten: Add hot water to the pan and bring it to a boil.

Step eleven: Cover the pan and let the rice cook. This should take about ten to twelve minutes.

Step twelve: Off the flame after the rice is cooked and add grated cheese of your choice and mix well (We used cheddar cheese)

Step thirteen: Take the peppers and stuff them with the prepared rice mix.

Step fourteen: Garnish with mozzarella cheese if you prefer. And cover it with the set aside top.

Step fifteen: Wrap in foil and bake for about 30 minutes. Then remove the foil and continue to bake for about 15 minutes.

Trust us when we say it tastes just as amazing as it smells.

Dirt and Worms Cookies

Our third recipe is for the smarties with a sweet tooth.

You will need the below-mentioned ingredients to put this yummy goodness together.

Ingredients:

  • Oreos
  • Butter (Melted)
  • Instant chocolate pudding
  • Gummy worms
  • Shot glasses

Directions:

Step one: Place the Oreos in a ziplock bag and bash it with a rolling pin to crumble them. You can also use a food processor to do this.

Step two: Prepare the instant chocolate pudding according to the instructions on the package. Why do you need chocolate pudding? Because the color slightly resembles mud. Set aside.

Step three: Now, put the Oreo crumbles into a bowl. Then add the melted butter into it and give it a mix. After a good mix, the crumbles should be moist. Set the bowl aside.

Step four: Take the shot glasses of your choice and put a layer of Oreo crumbs into them. Pat the layer down firmly.

Step five: Then place the layer of the chocolate pudding.

Step six: Put more crumbles on the chocolate pudding to form another layer. But, again, don't pat it down.

Step seven: Follow it with a layer of pudding. Repeat until you are happy with the look. The top layer should be the crumble.

Step eight: Place the gummy worms on the Oreo crumbles. And enjoy eating the dirt.

Has dirt ever tasted better than now? No, right?

Halloween Tortillas

Here's another super easy and super quick Halloween party food idea. This is perfect for busy moms! All you need is tortillas and salsa on the side. Place the tortilla in a paper towel and place it in the microwave for 30 seconds to dry them out. Repeat until you have dried all the tortillas you will use. Then cut the tortilla into Halloween-themed shapes. We love to cut these into bat shapes. Then heat some oil in a deep pan. And then fry the cut-out tortilla chips and serve with salsa!
