DIY Chalkboard Place Cards
Imagine a chalkboard mug, chalkboard picture frame, even a chalkboard bed frame. It's all possible with the amazing invention of chalkboard paint. I'll let you in on the technique with these awesome place cards.
They're very simple to make, but be warned, the drying time can take a while, especially if you decide to prime the boards first. I think it's well worth it, though, since chalkboards can be used again and again. They can be really cool party favors too. Just let your guests know it's all right to take them home.
Here's What You'll Need:- small canvas boards (one per guest)
- canvas hole puncher
- magnetic primer (optional)
- chalkboard spraypaint
- twine
- chalk marker (preferably white)
- Use hole puncher to make two holes on the top of each board
- Cover surface with newspaper or other material and lay out canvas boards
- Apply magnetic primer to both sides of canvas
- Let dry for 24 hours
- Spray boards completely with chalkboard paint (front and back)
- Allow to dry for a few hours after the first coat
- Apply a second coat and allow to dry for 24 hours
- Cut twine into approximately 12'' pieces (1 per canvas)
- Place twine through hole punches and tie ends together
- Use chalk marker to write one guest's name per board
- Hang one board around each guest's chair
