Trend Alert: Cakes in Cages
You heard me right, Smarties! Cages are officially the new cake domes.
The cage's color and size should correspond to your cake, but use your judgment for what combinations work. I suggest getting cages with rounded tops to give off a classier feel than the rectangular shaped ones. You can also tie a few roses or your preferred flower to the top to fancy it up a bit.
Check out the links below to find some really chic cage options: www.save-on-crafts.com/ www.etsy.com/.
Large cages work perfectly for tall tiered wedding cakes, but small cages can be filled with adorable individual cupcakes that are molded to look like mini wedding cakes. You can buy the molds here: https://www.hsn.com/. Then, place one caged cupcake by each person's plate. You can also think about matching your plates to the color of the cage.
Another cool birdcage idea could be to use them as place card settings or table number stands. All you have to do is attach either a name card or table number to the front using a small amount of tape or hot glue. The cages are elegant enough to stand on their own, but adding a tea light or flower in the center would be absolutely gorgeous.
